NABET:

National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians.

Night Premium:

A percentage or flat fee paid as a surcharge for work performed after a certain hour. The percentage or flat fee and the hour after which it is in effect, may vary from contract to contract.

Nagra:

The brand of the portable1/4" tape recorder (analog) that is most commonly used in motion picture productions. The tape is subsequently transferred to the recorded final film sound track, during post production. See DAT; sound recorder.

Night-for-Day:

Denotes the filming of outdoor scenes that take place in the daytime but are filmed at night to expedite the shooting schedule. The sets are illuminated by special lamps that simulate daylight. See Arc Light; HMI.

National Commercial:

A commercial produces for use throughout the country.

Night-for-Night:

Denotes the nighttime filming of outdoor scenes that take place at night.

Network Code:

In AFTRA, the contract covering network programming.

No Print:

The comment made by the director to indicate that the last recorded take is not printed at the laboratory; the continuity supervisor AKA script supervisor, the camera assistant, and the sound mixer do not circle that take number.

NG:

The initials for "No Good," applied to anything that is unacceptable for any reason.

NOMEX:

A brand name for fire retardant garments.
